Walking the Path of Matrescence with Awareness

Whether you found me searching for "prenatal yoga near me" or you are seeking specific relief for pelvic girdle pain, you have found a safe space here.

I offer bespoke 1:1 Yoga and Movement Education sessions that support you from your first trimester through your postpartum recovery and wherever you’ve landed in parenthood. Unlike general drop-in classes, our time together is dedicated entirely to your individual needs.

Why Choose Private 1:1 Support Over a Group Class?

You might love the idea of a prenatal yoga or pelvic health class, but find the reality doesn't quite fit your needs. Perhaps the times don't align, the room feels too crowded, or the generic poses actually flare up your pelvic pain.

Private support bridges the gap between general exercise and genuinely holistic healthcare.

Whether you have a natural or assisted birth, your pelvis and your pelvic floor go through so many changes physiologically and energetically as you gestate, birth and nurture a child. Your pelvis is foundational to your wellbeing: it affects everything from posture, muscular tone, breathing capacity, digestion, elimination, mental health and so much more.

Sadly, pelvic health can be a bit of a ‘taboo’ topic, but not here at The Centre of Bright Beginnings. I strongly believe in the importance of educating and empowering pregnant and postpartum people on the anatomy and functionality of the pelvis in a way that is realistic and sustainable for busy parents.

Supported pregnancy yoga using props for pelvic pain relief and comfort

No flexibility required

I use supportive props to meet your body exactly where it is today.

1:1 Yoga is likely the right investment for you if:

  • You need specific pain relief: You are experiencing challenges like Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP), sciatica, or lower back stiffness. In a group, you get a modification; here, we build the entire class around healing your body.

  • You value privacy and safety: You may have a high-risk pregnancy, are navigating birth trauma, or simply do not feel comfortable in a group setting. This is a private container for you to be vulnerable and authentic.

  • You want deep preparation: You are deeply committed to your matrescence journey and want to ask the specific questions that go unanswered in a busy room.

  • You need total flexibility: Life with a bump or a baby is unpredictable. We work around your schedule - whether that's in-person or online from your living room.

I felt lost in big classes, but working 1:1 gave me the confidence to trust my body again.

More Than Just Postures: Supporting Body, Mind & Intuition

In our sessions, we look beyond just the physical shapes. I believe that true pelvic health and well-being come from supporting every part of you as you transition into parenthood.

My approach is grounded in the understanding that your physical comfort is deeply connected to your emotional and mental state. Here is how we nurture your whole self:

  • Physical Comfort & Movement Education: We address the aches and pains of a changing body - optimising baby’s positioning, easing pelvic pain, and building stamina for birth using biomechanics and movement science.

  • Emotional & Mental Health: The journey of matrescence can bring "heavy fogs" of fatigue or anxiety alongside the joy. We use breathwork and mindfulness to calm the nervous system, helping you find steadiness when things feel overwhelming.

  • Trusting Your Intuition: You are the expert on your body and your baby. I support you to cultivate Svadhyaya (self-inquiry), helping you tune out the noise, trust your gut, and advocate for your needs with confidence.

  • Celebrating the Joy: Amidst the preparation and recovery, we make space to celebrate the ecstatic highs and the simple, sacred moments of connection with your baby.

Prenatal Yoga: Preparing for Birth

Congratulations on your Pregnancy! The most important consideration in Prenatal Yoga is creating space. Space for baby to grow, and space for mums and parents to find ease.

What We Explore Together:

  • Harnessing your pelvic energy and active birthing postures.

  • Softening, sounding, and working with the breath.

  • Advocating for yourself and your birth choices.

Postnatal Yoga: Support for Mums, Parents & Bubs

While the industry often calls postpartum yoga "mums and bubs," at The Centre of Bright Beginnings, we know that parents of all gender identifications need support. Rather than rushing to rediscover your pre-baby body or regain a pre-pregnancy exercise regime, my focus is on practicality and accessibility. You are supported to nurture yourself and your baby as you adjust to your new roles.

Babies do not develop an understanding of themselves as a separate being until around 6 months old (which explains why your personal space seems to have disappeared overnight!). For this reason, practising Postnatal Yoga with me benefits your baby just as much as it benefits you.

The 4 Phases of Postnatal Recovery: I will take you on a yoga experience designed to uplift your transition into parenthood:

  1. Regathering: Recalibrating after one of the biggest transitions of your life.

  2. Reconnecting: Finding steadiness, stability, and a new flow.

  3. Rebuilding: Redefining time and learning about core pressure management.

  4. Re-emerging: Stepping into your redefined power and creativity.

Your baby is always welcome at your appointment - whether in-person or online. We adapt the format of the class on the day to suit the temperament and needs of both of you.

Pelvic Health for Life: Beyond the Postpartum Bubble

While there is a lot of focus on the "fourth trimester," the reality is that pelvic health issues don't necessarily disappear once your baby is a toddler.

In fact, symptoms like heaviness, incontinence, or pelvic pain can persist for years into your parenting journey, or even re-emerge as you approach perimenopause and menopause.

You Are Welcome Here No Matter Your Stage

You do not need to be pregnant or have a newborn to access support here. My 1:1 sessions are a safe harbour for anyone navigating pelvic health challenges, whether you are:

  • Years into parenting: And finally ready to address that nagging back pain or "leaking" you’ve been putting up with since birth.

  • Approaching Perimenopause: As hormones shift, old injuries or pelvic floor weakness can resurface. We work to build strength and stability to support this "second adolescence."

  • Never birthed: Pelvic health issues like endometriosis, painful periods, or hypertonic (tight) pelvic floors affect people who have never been pregnant, too.

What Students are Saying

I’ve just finished the Pelvic Health Program with Claire and I can’t recommend it enough. Claire has a wealth of knowledge and can explain things in a new way for easier understanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed the program - learning and discovering new things about the mind-body connection to the pelvis. Claire has such a warm and welcome nature, thank you so much.
— Shauna: Mother-to-be
Claire is a fantastic support for pelvic floor issues - she is very knowledgeable, empathetic and communicative. I would warmly recommend her to all women for pregnancy and postpartum.
— Courtney: New Mum
After meeting with Claire and having our parental yoga 1:1 session, I have taken so much away, not only information but so many movements tailored to my body and how it moves or doesn’t move.

Claire has a unique way of sharing her extensive knowledge in a very practical and relatable way, which I really appreciate.

I found Claire to be extremely person centred and adaptable when it comes to working with my needs and wants during the session. I have lots of movements to work with during my third trimester that feel manageable.

As well as all of the yoga, she shared additional information and recommendations to support my body through this beautiful transition.

I look forward to working with Claire through the rest of my pregnancy.
