Congratulations on your Pregnancy! Truly the start of a Bright New Beginning.

The most important consideration in Prenatal Yoga is creating space. Space for Baby to grow and move and space for Mums and parents to find some comfort and ease within their expanding body, busy mind and energy field in preparation for stepping into motherhood or parenthood.

In prenatal yoga, we use plenty of supportive props such as bolsters and blankets. For this reason, class sizes are kept small, so be sure to secure your place on the mat in advance.

Classes are suitable for all trimesters of pregnancy and no previous yoga experience is needed:

  • you do not need to be ‘flexible’ or ‘fit’

  • if you have any movement restrictions from your healthcare provider, please contact us to discuss, as our yoga classes are accessible for all levels of mobility and we should still be able to accommodate you

Prenatal Yoga may support pregnant people through:

  • Relaxation and stress management

  • Fostering physical and mental stamina and strength

  • Fostering connection with baby

  • Improving flexibility and balance

  • Toning of the birth muscles

  • Improving circulation

  • Improving posture (alleviating common back and hip discomforts)

  • Balancing the body to encourage optimal position of baby for birthing

  • Feeling empowered, prepared and confident for birth

  • Techniques to mitigate and manage pain perception and sensation

Prenatal Yoga Workshops

If this is your first time experiencing prenatal yoga, we recommend starting with one of our workshops to provide you with the fundamentals.

  • 2hr WORKSHOP $45

This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of Prenatal and Postnatal yoga. If you are considering incorporating yoga into your pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey, this is the place to start.

The workshop provides experiential learning around the following topics:

    • the benefits of prenatal and postnatal yoga

    • why yoga is so much more than just poses or exercises and how this makes it a wonderful holistic practice to support your journey into parenthood

    • what is matrescence and why should you know about it

    • the golden rules of prenatal and postnatal yoga

    • simple home practices you can implement straight away

    • what to expect in a prenatal and postnatal yoga class at The Centre of Bright Beginnings

This event is suitable for anyone who is currently pregnant, early postpartum or planning a pregnancy. Babes in arms are welcome.

You can view workshop dates/times and make a booking here.

  • 2hr WORKSHOP $50 (for 2)

Share your pregnancy journey with your birth partner. Learn partner poses and relaxation techniques so they can assist in supporting you during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Pregnancy partner workshops are suitable for second and third trimesters of pregnancy. The session may support new parents through:

    • Relaxation and stress management for each parent

    • Fostering connection with baby and each other

    • Deepened understanding of the birthing parent’s needs

    • Improved ability to ask for and receive physical, mental and emotional support

    • Techniques to assist with labour, birth and postpartum recovery

    • Improved ability to advocate for the wellbeing and needs of the birthing partner and baby

You can view upcoming dates/times and make a booking here.

Our prenatal yoga facilitation is likely to feel different to other yoga classes you may have attended, as we offer practices across all 8 limbs of yoga (not just postures and breathing), so even if you have practised general yoga at a studio or gym, we recommend you start with one of our workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

So much is new when you become pregnant! It’s natural you may have questions. We have provided some answers to common questions we receive here at The Centre of Bright Beginnings, but don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have further enquiries.

  • Whatever is most comfortable for you, that allows you full range of movement.

For most people, we find this is something that provides modest coverage and is not too tight, but also not too loose that your limbs get caught up when you move.

  • In-Studio:

We provide all equipment for classes at the studio. So just bring water and snacks if you need.

    Home Visit:

If we are coming to you, we will bring all equipment needed.

    Other Locations:

You may need to BYO yoga mat, but we will let you know ahead of time. (Don’t stress, we always have a few spares on hand if you forget or don’t own one).

  • It certainly is. You will be at no disadvantage as Prenatal Yoga is very specialised compared to a ‘general’ yoga class.

  • Certainly. There are no fitness or flexibility requirements to practice yoga. It is about meeting yourself wherever you are at and supporting you as you are.

We are not a fatphobic studio, we embrace and celebrate all body types.

  • We cater to all stages of pregnancy. However, our group classes are best undertaken during second and third trimester. We find many people are needing to prioritise rest at home during first trimester.
